Privacy Policy
Introduction
Fuji Bit Inc. ("we", "us") respects the privacy of users of the mobile app "path-to-one" (Japanese title: 呪われた数の迷宮; iOS / Android; the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, where it is sent, why, how long it is kept, and the choices available to you. If this English version and the Japanese version differ, the Japanese version prevails.
You can play the App without creating an account. Joining the weekly ranking and linking an account are both optional, and every game feature remains available if you do neither. In v4.0 we switched our ad provider from Google AdMob to Pangle and stopped using Google AdMob. A full list of data items, purposes and recipients, and how to request access, correction or deletion, is also available on the Personal Data Handling page.

2. Information we collect
2-1. Information stored only on your device
Your adventure records (score history), achievements, grimoire, curse marks (in-game currency), unlocked builds and difficulty tiers, BGM mute setting, ad choice and similar data are stored only on your device (UserDefaults on iOS, SharedPreferences on Android). They are not sent anywhere. Even if you join the weekly ranking, only the items listed in 2-3 below are sent.
2-2. Advertising (Pangle)
The App uses Pangle, an advertising platform operated by Bytedance Pte. Ltd., to show a banner ad at the bottom of the screen and an interstitial (full-screen) ad after you tap the button on the victory or game-over screen. The Pangle SDK starts only after you respond to the ad screen described in section 3, and collects the following information for ad delivery, measurement, analytics and fraud prevention. In accordance with Pangle's privacy policy, this information may be shared with Pangle's partners involved in ad delivery.
- Advertising identifiers (Android advertising ID (GAID); iOS IDFV; and iOS IDFA only if you allow tracking via ATT)
- IP address and the approximate location derived from it (country / region level)
- Device information such as model, OS version and language setting
- Ad interaction data such as impressions and taps
- Diagnostics such as crash and performance data
The App does not request the device location (GPS) permission. For how Pangle handles information, see the Pangle End User Data Privacy Policy.
2-3. Weekly ranking (Google Firebase)
The weekly ranking is an optional feature where every player takes on the same number under the same conditions each week and competes for the best score. Only if you tap "Agree and register" on the consent screen shown from "Weekly Challenge" on the title screen, the following information is sent to and stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, Firebase Authentication and Cloud Functions). If you choose "Not now" or do not respond to the consent screen, no ranking data is sent at all.
- Nickname (1-16 characters; or tap "Random" to have one generated automatically, starting with "Wanderer#"). Your nickname is shown publicly to other players viewing the weekly ranking. Please do not use your real name or anything that identifies you.
- Weekly ranking results: your best score for the week, rank, whether you cleared, number of attempts, the week's start number, a run ID to prevent the same run from being counted twice, the time your best score was reached (server time; used to rank whoever reached a tied score first higher), and the update time
- Weekly champion (1st place) record: if you finish a week in 1st place (on a tie, whoever reached that score first), the server records your anonymous authentication ID, nickname and best score for that week as the week's champion when the week closes (in Cloud Firestore's rankingWeeks / rankingChoices). As the champion's reward, you choose the cursed number for the week after next (a number from 100 to 9999 that takes at least 70 steps to reach 1), and you can change it until Sunday 23:55 (JST). The chosen number and when you chose it are also recorded, and in the week that uses it, the screen shows "Chosen by (your nickname)".
- Firebase anonymous authentication ID (UID): an identifier issued automatically per device by Firebase Authentication
By the nature of a ranking, your nickname and results such as your score are visible to other players. Results of runs finished while offline are kept temporarily on the device and sent automatically the next time a connection is available, only as a record of the account that played them (if you switch to a different account, they are not sent as that account's records). However, each week accepts records only while it is open (from Monday 00:00 to 00:04 the following Monday, Japan time); a record sent after its week has closed is not counted. Submitted scores are validated by server-side rules, and only values that the scoring formula can produce are accepted. The number played in each week is fixed by the server before that week starts. Joining the ranking alone does not send your name, email address or phone number.
2-4. Account linking (optional)
So that you can carry your ranking records and nickname to another device when you change devices or reinstall, you may optionally link an account from the "Account" screen in the Weekly Challenge (Apple ID or Google account on iOS; Google account on Android). When you link, Firebase Authentication records the Apple / Google account identifier and your email address (or Apple's relay address if you chose "Hide My Email"). For Google, your display name and profile image URL may also be recorded. These are not shown in the ranking and are not disclosed to other players. The App never receives your Apple / Google password. You can unlink at any time with "Unlink" on the "Account" screen; your records and nickname remain after unlinking.
2-5. In-app purchases
Payments for the one-time purchases "Remove Ads", "Unlock Number Input" and "Overlord Build" are processed by Apple (App Store) on iOS and Google (Google Play) on Android. We never receive payment information such as credit card numbers. Your purchase state is stored only on your device (on Android, the ad-free entitlement is cached locally) and is not sent to our servers.
2-6. Daily notifications (on your device only)
The App may show a notification around 18:00 (device time) each day about the Daily Challenge or the Weekly Challenge (none on a day you have already played that day's Daily Challenge). These notifications are scheduled and shown on your device only; they are not push notifications sent from our or any third party's servers, and no information is sent anywhere for them. The App asks for notification permission once, after your first finished run, and never at launch. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device's Settings app.
3. Ad display and your ad choices
Before starting any ad SDK, the App shows a screen about ads.
- iOS: At first launch, the App shows an explanation screen about ads (with a single "Continue" button), followed by the iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT) tracking permission dialog. Personalized ads (ads tailored to your interests) are delivered only if you have not chosen "Don't personalize" in the App's "Ad settings" AND you have allowed tracking via ATT. If either condition is not met, only non-personalized ads are delivered and the IDFA is not used.
- Android: At first launch, the App shows a screen with two options: "Show personalized ads" and "Don't personalize". If you choose "Don't personalize", the App tells the Pangle SDK that you have not consented to personalized ads, and only non-personalized ads are delivered.
Until you respond to this screen, the Pangle SDK is not started, no ads are requested, and no information is collected by the ad SDK. You can change your choice at any time from "Ad settings" on the title screen. On iOS, you can also change tracking permission in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. The game plays exactly the same whichever you choose.
If you have purchased "Remove Ads", no ads are shown, the ad screen is not displayed, and the Pangle SDK is never started.
4. Opting out of advertising identifiers
- iOS: Turn off tracking for the App in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking, and the IDFA will no longer be used. You can also choose "Don't personalize" in "Ad settings" on the title screen.
- Android: You can reset or delete your advertising ID under "Ads" in the device Settings app (located under "Google" or "Privacy" depending on the device). You can also choose "Don't personalize" in "Ad settings" on the title screen.
